On the tiles at Charvil Piggott Primary
Friday 11th July 2014 saw the official opening of the Charvil Piggott Primary School, with a plaque commemorating the event unveiled by the Rt Hon Mrs Theresa May. To celebrate, local dignitaries and those involved with the creation of the School were invited to the ceremony and for tours of the facility. Rollalong designed and built the provision in 2013, as part of Wokingham Borough Council’s education strategy, for 2013-2016. The Piggott Academy, run as an all through school for children from 4–18 years, opened its doors to its first Reception class in September 2013. From 26 pupils in its first year, it will grow over the next six years to a school for 210 children. Key facts: Over the summer, the School will create a commemorative wall, with clay tiles designed by the people influential in bringing the school to life as well as the staff, Governors and the children themselves. The wall is situated in the courtyard, made up of a large number of tiles and each with a message of support and images representing the School and those involved since its inception. They are now looking forward to welcoming their next pupils this September. Hilary Winter, Headteacher commented ‘Our first year has been an incredible success – the new building is an enormous asset to the community and we look forward to many successful years to come’
