We were delighted to welcome a group from Yeovil College to our factory this week!
Six carpentry students and two lecturers from the college paid us a visit to learn more about modern methods of construction (MMC) and how the construction industry is evolving.
They heard a presentation about Rollalong and our offsite construction methods and had a tour of our factory so they could see the manufacturing process at first hand.
The college is looking to work closely with Rollalong so that MMC can become an integral part of the syllabus on its new T-Level courses.
Next we plan to show the students one of our Magna Housing construction sites near to the college so they can see the next phase of our MMC construction process.

We’re pleased to have welcomed two new apprentices to Rollalong: Hugh Pennington (left) and Harry Pickard.
Last month we invited nine young people to our headquarters to tell them all about Rollalong, our growth to date and our plans for the future.
Now we’ve recruited Hugh and Harry to join our two second-year apprentices David Edmunds and James Atyeo-Pearson. All are currently working with us and studying at Bournemouth & Poole College.
Hugh and Harry are spending their first week taking part in health, safety and environmental inductions and tool training and meeting all the team.
Some of the work they will cover as site carpenter apprentices will be framing, stud work, roof construction, external cladding, internal and external door fitting, window fitting, bathroom and kitchen fitting and stair installation.
We wish both Hugh and Harry a long and successful career at Rollalong!

It’s National Apprenticeship Week and we’d like to introduce our two young apprentices: David Edmunds and James Atyeo-Pearson.
David, pictured at a safe social distance wearing red gloves, joined Rollalong on 20th January, while James started his apprenticeship with us on 4th January.
They are both local lads doing a two-year Level 2 Site Carpentry apprenticeship, which involves four days a week in our factory in Dorset and one day a week at college.
As well as carpentry they are also learning the modern methods of construction employed in factory manufactured buildings.
Each apprentice is mentored by an experienced factory manager and supported by the wider Rollalong team. They are both following a two-year plan which will give them experience of all aspects of the manufacturing process, with a specific focus on carpentry.
We were delighted to welcome them to the team and we look forward to helping them develop their carpentry careers!
The theme for National Apprenticeship Week 2021 is ‘Build the Future’. The Government is encouraging everyone to consider how apprenticeships can help individuals to develop the skills and knowledge required for a rewarding career, and help employers to build a workforce with future-ready skills.
