Magna Housing has selected Dorset based company Rollalong Ltd, so they can benefit from their decades of precision engineering experience in residential and commercial manufacture to build their next wave of 600 new affordable homes for people to rent and buy.
The initial order for over 50 homes with an anticipated value of £8m-£10m is expected to commence in Spring 2019 and this will secure jobs at Rollalong’s permanent off-site construction facility.
Steve Chivers, Managing Director at Rollalong sees this a golden opportunity to change the nature and perception of what it is to work in the construction industry, and to attract the next generation of multi-skilled workers to design homes and work in our factory to build the homes desperately required for the local area.
Paul Read, Magna’s Head of Development explained: “Our focus is to build homes our customers say they want: attractive, affordable, healthy and well thought through places to call home. Precision engineering helps further minimise the cost of heating, noise transfer between homes and promotes a feeling of safety in well-designed homes set in attractive streets.”
Rollalong operate from a state-of-the-art modular manufacturing facility in Wimborne, Dorset which creates a unique local partnership between the two companies. Magna Housing based in Dorchester operate in Dorset and Somerset and 5 of the initial sites are within a 1-hour radius of Rollalong’s manufacturing facility.
Both Magna and Rollalong will be working together alongside procurement specialists LHC and consultants CAMS to combine our years of research and development and delivery. This will crystallise Rollalong’s strategic vision to expand their share of the residential market. We will jointly work to select a number of local clients who value the benefits of a ‘modular first’ solution and are supportive of a truly collaborative approach to solving the current housing crisis.
