Two New Appointments Strengthen Senior Team

10th December 2020

We’re pleased to announce two new appointments which have strengthened the senior management team at Rollalong.

Our Head of Residential Iain Steele has been promoted to Projects Director, while Pete Carter has joined the company as Production Director.

Iain first joined Rollalong 13 years ago and has advanced through progressively more responsible positions in special works, installations and residential, where he has played a key role during Rollalong’s transition into the residential sector.

His new role encompasses overall responsibility for construction and operations and he will also have oversight of the design department.

“I joined Rollalong originally because of my interest in offsite construction,” said Iain, who is an Incorporated Member of the Chartered Institute of Building.

“We develop products to meet a varied market requirement, from education and offices to the MoD, and I’ve relished the journey that we have been on to refine our offering into new market sectors, including the residential sector.

“I enjoy the day-to-day challenges of a multi-faceted business offering an offsite solution to our clients and the wider construction industry – interacting and effecting change, and working with people who design, make and deliver our products.

“In my new role I hope to build on the foundations that have been developed by my predecessor and the Rollalong teams to continue to improve our products and our ways of working. The challenge is to look for innovation and solutions to offer an ever greater product to our customers.”

Pete Carter’s career began as a combat engineer in the British Army Royal Engineers, and his most recent role before joining Rollalong was as Head of Production at bus and coach builder Alexander Dennis Ltd.

As Production Director he is now responsible for leading the Rollalong production team, developing the manufacturing strategy and being accountable for the safety, quality, delivery and cost of the product.

“It’s been an excellent start since I arrived,” said Pete, who is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology.

“There’s lots to learn, but everyone has been very helpful and I’m really impressed by how much everyone wants the company to do well.

“I wanted to join Rollalong because we’ve got an excellent product which we’re keen to place in a growing market, and the culture here is positive and supportive with a real will to succeed.

“I want to build on the great work already being done at Rollalong, using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to expand our residential offering while building on our already excellent quality.”

Managing Director Steve Chivers commented: “I’m delighted with these two appointments. Iain and Pete bring a wealth of experience and a high level of expertise to our senior management team.

“I’d like to wish them both well in their new roles and look forward to seeing the positive impact I know they will have on our business.”
